Wright featured in both games at outside centre alongside Jamie Roberts and believes that the results provide a great deal of momentum going into the second half of the season.

Wright said: “The result against Wasps week was massive and Sunday (against Leicester Tigers) was even bigger. If we’d have lost, we would have been like Leicester in ninth, but now we’re pushing the top four.

“It gives us a real building block for the rest of the season. The forwards were outstanding and made a huge difference. Even with a few knocks, they were pushing through and giving everything.”

Only five points separate Bristol Bears in tenth and Harlequins in fourth in the Gallagher Premiership. However, the 21 year-old believes that if Bath can replicate the form shown in the last two games, the standings will do the talking.

“We’re taking it week by week. Every game in the (Gallagher) Premiership is huge. We’ve got to look at what’s in front of us and make sure we get that win. The table will then take care of itself.”

After an injury-disrupted start to his Bath Rugby career, Wright has excelled when called upon this season in both the Gallagher Premiership and in Europe. The former England U20 international had a helping hand in Bath’s third try, as Ruaridh McConnochie fended off Ellis Genge in tight quarters to score in the corner.

“It’s been class – the injuries are all behind me now,” Wright admitted. “My focus is just pushing the lads in front – there’s healthy competition, which will bring out the best out of all of us.

“I just gave him (Ruaridh) the ball and he did all the hard work himself. He’s a wiry and hard person to tackle – it was a good backs try and gave the forwards something for their hard work up front.

This Saturday, Bath will travel to Sixways to face Worcester Warriors. After pushing second-placed Saracens all the way at Allianz Park, Wright knows the challenge in front of the squad this weekend.

“When we played them last time, they were a physical team and they showed that against Saracens. If we can front up, there’s no reason for us to go there and do a job. No matter who you play in the league, you know it’s going to be tough and we’re expecting exactly that this weekend.”

Wright is quick to pay tribute to the Bath Rugby supporters, who made a real impact on Sunday in more ways than one.

"The atmosphere was outstanding. At one point I couldn’t hear what Freddie (Burns) was saying, so I had to ask him three times what the move was. It was great to have that support behind us, it made a real difference."
