Demolition of the old West Stand commenced the day after Bath Rugby’s season finale victory against Leicester Tigers in early May, and that phase of the process has now been completed. Concrete foundations have been laid and a steel frame fully erected, whilst this week has seen the commencement of waterproofing, flooring, concessions and the preparation work for seating – amongst other areas of work.

There is a distinctly local flavour involved in this much-anticipated development, with the key teams overseeing the process – NMJ Groundworks, Robbin Engineering and CMS Project Managers and Architects – either partners of Bath Rugby or Season Ticket Holders. Indeed, Dan Fox and Nick Maslen of Robbin Engineering are both former Bath Rugby players.

“This is a complicated build with a challenging timescale for completion, but we have an outstanding team of people working on the project who are moving things along extremely well so far,” said Alex Cohen, Head of Operations at Bath Rugby. “We should see some really tangible steps forward in the project over the next month as we cover up the impressive steel frame now in place. Everything is well on track to be ready for our season opener against Newcastle Falcons on Saturday 10^th September.”
