Bath Rugby’s Wil Partington gave the visitors an early lead with a penalty, before Northumbria scored the opening try of the game to put them into the lead on the scoreboard. [7-3]

The visitors replied immediately, with two tries of their own. Bath Rugby’s Ethan Hutt went over first in the corner following good work from Alex Burrage and Angus Hinton before Alex Nisbet beat two defenders to run in for Bath’s second of the evening. [7-15]

James Elliot clawed one back for the hosts to take his side to within three points, as the scrum-half weaved his way through the Bath defence. [12-15]

Bath were next to strike just a minute later, crashing over from a powerful rolling maul to open up an eight-point lead. [12-20]

The hosts ensured that it would be a tense second 40 minutes as they scored from close range before the interval. [19-20]

Northumbria came out of the blocks quickly in the second half, with three unanswered tries giving them a commanding 16-point lead. [36-20]

University of Bath needed a response, and it came following another strong rolling maul, which put them within nine points. Partington reduced the deficit further four minutes later, slotting a penalty to put them within striking distance. [36-30]

The visitors landed a huge blow to Northumbria with just four minutes left of the clock. The trusted rolling maul paid off once again, with Partington adding the extras to take them into the narrowest of leads. [36-37]

A last minute breakaway try converted by Partington confirmed victory for the travelling side.
