After recording back-to-back victories against Saracens and Exeter Braves, United went to Farnham RUFC full of confidence and they didn’t disappoint.

The opening try of the game came just after a few minutes. After conceding a number of penalties, United punished Quins’ indiscipline with a well-worked rolling maul. Will Vaughan was the man to profit, as the prop opened the scoring. [0-5]

The visitors’ quick start continued, as they added another try with just 10 minutes on the clock through Levi Davis. It was Chris Cook, who sent Davis through following a maul for his second in as many games. [0-12]

Mid-way through the half, Harlequins got their first points on the board. It was George Head who closed the gap scoring in the corner to reduce the deficit to seven points. [5-12]

Despite being reduced to 14 men, United defended resolutely against a strong Harlequins side which included the likes of Alofa Alofa, Demetri Catrakilis, Aaron Morris and former Bath man Ben Tapuai.

United restored their 10-point advantage with an Alex Davies penalty, which sent his side into the interval in front on the scoreboard.

It was the hosts who came out firing in the second-half, with replacement Niall Saunders scoring off the back of a maul before Catrakilis added the extras. [12-15]

With the lead just three points, the next score was crucial and it went to United. A cleverly worked move from the back line saw Jack Wilson cross the whitewash despite the best efforts of Harlequins’ Luke Wallace. Davies added another two points from the resulting conversion. [12-22]

United put the tie beyond doubt with 15 minutes to play, as Jack Walker profited from a driving maul to score the Blue, Black and White’s fourth of the afternoon. [12-29]

Both teams were on the wrong end of the referee with Niall Saunders and Miles Reid both shown a yellow card as the game went into the last eight minutes.

Harlequins got a consolation try three minutes from time through Alofa Alofa, who finished following a long, looping pass from Catrakilis.
