The Bath Rugby openside takes his place on the flank instead of Sale Sharks’ Tom Curry who has been ruled out of the rest of the tour due to concussion.

With 28 caps to his name already, Underhill has faced the Wallabies three times in his career to date coming out on top in each contest, including the 2019 Rugby World Cup quarter-final win.

Underhill’s Blue, Black and White teammate Will Stuart retains his place at tighthead prop. The 25-year-old was a carrying threat in Perth and will make his 22^nd international cap.

Northampton Saints’ Tommy Freeman, and Leicester Tigers duo Jack van Poortvliet and Guy Porter come into the backline for their first England starts.

Jones said: “We have decided to make changes in our back line, they were tough calls but we feel they will strengthen the team. There are opportunities to attack against Australia which we can take.

“We have had solid preparation this week and looking forward to an important game in Brisbane.

“This game is the perfect practice for the World Cup and our focus is putting on our best performance.”
