Ruaridh McConnochie has made a switch of international allegiance to be named in Gregor Townsend’s squad for the first time while Josh Bayliss and Cameron Redpath are also involved.

A former England Sevens player, McConnochie moved into the 15s game in 2018 when he joined Bath and has appeared 68 times in Blue, Black and White to date, scoring 19 tries.

His form for Bath earned him international recognition with England for whom he debuted in the build-up to the 2019 Rugby World Cup before being capped at the tournament, crossing the whitewash in a win over USA.

Back row Josh Bayliss has three caps for Scotland after making an impactful debut against Australia 2021, with his late turnover sealing victory for the Scots.

He made his first start against Japan from Number 8 a week later and his third outing came in last season’s Six Nations.

With a famous Scottish father in Bryan, Redpath was destined to wear the thistle despite England Under-20s honours. He burst on to the international scene with an outstanding debut in Scotland’s first win over England at Twickenham for 38 years while his second cap came in Cardiff against Wales.

The 23-year-old centre dotted down for his first Scotland try in the 2022 Autumn Nations Series as the Scots recorded a 52-29 win over Argentina.

Joining after the Rugby World Cup this year, Finn Russell is also in the squad.
