Thomas, who has won 38 caps at prop is excited at the prospect of lining up for her third World Cup after representing her country in 2010 and 2014.

The front rower said: “It's such an honour to be selected for my third World Cup. I love putting that Welsh shirt on and earning that opportunity again makes it all worthwhile. Even though the coverage and media has increased the competition is just as fierce as when I first started and I'm looking forward to it all kicking off.”

Thomas and the Wales team will face four-time World Champions New Zealand in their opener in Dublin on Wednesday 9^th August, but the 31-year-old is relishing the opportunity to test herself against the very best.

“It's an exciting pool for us and the third time I've come up against NZ, it's an opportunity to play three nations outside of the annual Six Nations Championship. We're confident we've got processes in place that can challenge the best. Consistency is our focus, delivering top quality rugby throughout the 80 minutes, game after game which will provide us our results,” she added.

Wales’ final two games of the pool come against 2006 World Cup winners Canada (13^th August) and Hong Kong (17^th August).
