An ever-present in the competition, Douglas has played an integral role in the Club’s progression through to the Final. However, the 22 year-old is well aware of the challenge that Chiefs pose, and knows that the squad will have to be at their best to come out on top.

Douglas said: “It’s a great opportunity for everyone involved to go out there and get some silverware, which we haven’t done for a while. We have put in a huge amount of hard work to get to this point. For us to get to the final hurdle and not lift the trophy, that would be really hard to take. So the only way for us is to go out there, show that intensity from the start and get the win.”

Douglas was a try scorer as Bath clinched their place in the Final, after a hard-fought 13-12 victory over Northampton Saints at the Rec. Despite the torrential rain and swirling winds around the ground, the second rower relished the opportunity to impose his physicality on proceedings.

“It was a very tough game and the conditions didn't help,” he admitted. “For me, it was the perfect game for me - it was tight, with some big collisions and it was clear that the most dominant pack would win on the night. We showed that, and couldn't ask for any more.”

Whilst the weather made it difficult for the two teams, Douglas was quick to pay tribute to the Bath Rugby supporters, who braved the monsoon-like conditions under the Friday night lights.

“The conditions were terrible, but we were running around so to be in the stands, it must have been freezing. They were loud all the way through the game and I've got to take my hat off to them, we all really appreciate the support they always show us.

“They're a massive part of our success and we win games it's down to our supporters. It drives us on to make that extra tackle and gives us that extra boost in energy levels. We’re looking forward to having them behind us once again on Sunday.”

The Anglo-Welsh Cup has given Douglas the chance to shine in the Blue, Black and White, and believes that it could be the platform for a strong finish to the season back in the Aviva Premiership.

“I've loved it - it's given me the chance to start a game and play for 60 plus minutes which is great for my experience. Some of the boys I've played with and against has given me the chance to develop over the rounds.

“The last few rounds in this competition we've always gone on to win the next game in the Premiership. It's a great opportunity for us to kick-start the last bit of our season and get back to top form.”
