Wilson is a key addition to the enhanced Performance Department at the Club, bringing unquestionable skills and experience from his time at Munster. He joins Dr. Gregory Roe who progresses into the role of Head of Applied Science and Research and Byron Field who continues as Head of Medical Services, together working under the leadership of Performance Director Andy Rock.

Wilson will lead the strength and conditioning team across all functions of the physical preparation programme, bringing his skills as an experienced practitioner in addition to strong leadership for the Strength and Conditioning department as a whole. He brings a team of staff together that will also include one further addition in Dr. Joshua Darrall-Jones who joins from Wasps in August.

Wilson’s knowledge and expertise will support the Rugby Department’s ambition to maximise the impact of every minute the players spend on the field. A focus that sees the Performance Department working closely with the Coaching Team to deliver a programme that optimises players conditioning and skills aligned to the way Bath want to play.

As Head of Applied Science and Research, Roe will further utilise his knowledge and expertise to support the Performance Department as a multi-disciplinary team to establish evidence-based and methodologically-sound approaches to all training activity and athlete support services across the senior squad at Bath Rugby.

We are developing a Performance Department that will drive the preparation and readiness of our players for the challenges of the 2019/20 season. We will work together to plan and deliver what the players need, getting maximum benefit from everything that we do, in the gym, on the training field and around the wider programme. PJ’s appointment has been a huge boost, and he joins a strong group of staff in the department at what is an exciting time for our Club.”
