In addition, Bath Rugby's Stephen Middleton (kit manager) also appeared before the same independent disciplinary panel last night (Tuesday 2 November 2021).

Middleton was charged with conduct prejudicial to the interests of the union and the game, contrary to RFU Rule 5.12, after he was asked to leave the field of play by the referee during the same match.

This was for comments made in the second half that were initially thought to have been directed at the referee.

The Panel accepted that the words were not intentionally directed at the Referee, but Middleton accepted that the Referee could have perceived them to have been.

The panel concluded that on any view the situation was disrespectful and had compromised the integrity of the Referee.

Middleton shared his remorse and regret and was given a Low End one match suspension which prevents him from attending Leicester Tigers on Friday evening.
