Run by the Bath Rugby Community Team – and in association with Dyson – the inaugural Bath Rugby 7s Club Championship tournament will take place at the Recreation Ground on Saturday 7^th May, the final day of the Aviva Premiership season when Bath take on Leicester Tigers. The competition will be initially focused on local clubs in the South West, with the intention of extending the reach further in the near future.

“We are really excited to be launching the Bath Rugby 7s Club Championship, and to be doing so with Dyson as this new competition adds yet another layer to our already successful partnership,” said Tarquin McDonald, Managing Director of Bath Rugby. “Rugby is at its heart a community game, and investment in grassroots rugby is a hugely important factor in the future of the game. Both ourselves and Dyson are committed to supporting our local clubs and we hope that they will embrace and enjoy the tournament.”

Running from 8.00 till 12.30 on Saturday 7^th May, the Bath Rugby 7s Club Championship will feature eight local under 14s teams playing on the outfield, with the final taking place on the main pitch at the Recreation Ground ahead of Bath Rugby vs Leicester Tigers. Complimentary tickets for the game against Leicester will be offered to all participants

Steve Wichary, Managing Director of Dyson GB and Ireland, added: “This new tournament is a fantastic way for us to celebrate our partnership with Bath Rugby. Whilst the aim is for the tournament to extend far beyond the South West over time, we are delighted to be giving back to our local clubs by hosting this at the Recreation Ground.”

Tournament-goers should also keep an eye out for the Catapult Challenge, developed by Dyson engineers, which will be held on the Rec outfield. Further news regarding this exciting activity will be publicised soon.

Entry to the tournament is free, with the closing date for entries on Tuesday 3rd May. Those successful will be contacted on Wednesday 4th May via email.
